First off, I should apologise for my lack of posts lately. It’s been a pretty tiring couple of weeks: uni is back and with one month to go before my four-year degree finally comes to a close, I’m starting to really feel the pressure; add to that a hospitalised Nan and you’ve got the recipe for a rather tired Miss Jacquie.

But! The clouds filling today’s sky promise a silver lining in the form of the Bowerbird Bazaar. Much like the Finders Keepers markets of the East Coast, Bowerbird is a bi-annual showcase of artsy delights from local and interstate designers. It’s like Frankie magazine has exploded inside the Queen’s Theatre, and I cannot wait to spend all of my hard-earned Lowdown moneys.
Kitty Came Home Wintage Fabric A6 Journal - $55 from Etsy
The October market features delights from crafty wonderkids such as Kitty Came Home (her Strawberry Shortcake wallet is the best birthday pressie I’ve ever received), lola and bailey, hideyo (the label of BB founders Jane Barwick and Rebekah Cichero) and my favourite, a skulk of foxes.

Bowerbird Bazaar takes over the Queen’s Theatre (Playhouse Lane, just off Light Square) from Friday, October 8 to Sunday, October 10. Doors are open from 4pm ’til 10pm tonight; 10am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday.
There’s a great Cocoon and Chic interview with the founders of Bowerbird, Jane & Rebekah over at the Bazaar’s blog, along with loads of other behind-the-scenes insights and links to all of the gorgeous designers’ websites. Make sure to check it out, and who knows – maybe I’ll see you there this weekend!
